Since 2002, the Greensburg Community Bread of Life has gone through many changes. But our mission has always remained the same: Faithfully working together to provide a free meal to those in need. Through this mission we have been able to reach out to many.
Since teaming up with Gleaners Food Bank, our food rescue has been on the rise as well, giving us the ability to distribute meals to other agencies and help fight hunger throughout our surrounding area.
The support we receive from the community is overwhelming. We use on average 50-75 volunteers each week.
Four Ways Our Program Benefits the Community
The Hungry
The first group we benefit is the hungry. The patron is able to receive a free nutritious meal every Monday, Wednesday & Thursday from 3-5pm either by dining-in, carry-out, or delivery.
The Volunteers
The second group that we benefit is the volunteers. We allow individuals and families to use their servant hearts to help those in need. They are able to make a difference and lasting friendships with each other and our patrons.
The Donors
The third group is the donors. We accept food and monetary donations therefore benefiting the donor by receiving tax deductions for their charitable giving.
The Environment
We work to educate the community about the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act so that they will donate perfectly useful food that would otherwise go to our landfills.
