Get Involved
Our volunteers come to us for many reasons. Whatever the reason, we have been blessed they have chosen Greensburg Community Bread of Life to use their gift of time to give back to their community.
We have seen multiple generations work together and share words of wisdom from their life experiences. Our patrons volunteer as well and it is a joy to see those we serve on a regular basis giving back to their community. The Bread of Life is truly a home for volunteers and patrons alike seeking to give God's loving care to each other.
Our volunteers are utilized in as many ways as possible. Some of the opportunities include, but are not limited to:
-
Rescuing Food
-
Organizing the Pantry
-
Assisting in the Kitchen
-
Driving Deliveries
-
Lawn Care
-
Teaching a RISE Class
-
Sorting and Organizing Clothing at Garments of Grace
-
Serving on the Board of Directors

Before scheduling to volunteer, and if you are new to our kitchen, an information form (below), along with a background check (below), will need to be completed. Once the background check has been verified, we will contact you for scheduling. Please bring the completed documents to our Volunteer Coordinator in the Kitchen.
If you have community service to complete, you must call the kitchen and speak with the Volunteer Coordinator, at 812-662-4887 to be scheduled.

Donate Food
Along with being an advocate to relieve hunger, we educate the community on food rescue. Food rescue allows us to use perfectly safe food that would otherwise be thrown away into our landfills. Food can only be accepted from Board of Health Certified kitchens such as restaurants, grocery stores, lockers, and catered meals and must meet specified requirements. Food can be donated Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
